Advanced Placement Exams

Students can take advanced placement exams (AP), which are college level material to potentially earn college credit.  To learn more about AP courses, exams, and potential credit, please visit the site at this link.

All students taking AP exams, must register for their AP Classroom through College Board with the join code provided by their teacher.  To have an exam ordered for the AP course a student is enrolled in, students must pay directly through the Total Registration website. 

Students who are enrolled in an AP level class are required to complete the AP examination in May (with the exception of World and American History)

 

The online AP Registration and Ordering System is now in place for the 2025-26 school year. Students will be registering at two separate sites. One to register for their AP class and the other to pay for the AP exam.

All students are required to take the AP exam for the AP classes in which they are enrolled. Students will register for AP exams using their College Board student account user name and password. If a student does not yet have a College Board account, he/she can create one by clicking the “Sign Up” link at myap.collegeboard.org. Students may create their accounts, however, they will not be able to register for the AP exams until they return to school. If a student has an account but cannot remember the log in, they must contact College Board directly. Do NOT create another account if you have created one previously.

 

REGISTRATION PROCESS

AP Exam registration is a two-step process. Firstly, students will be given instructions on how to register for AP exams during the first week of classes. Each AP class section has a specific “join code” required to register for the exams, which will be provided by the student’s AP teacher. Students will be asked to provide some personal registration information when they register for their first AP examination. Please be sure that this information is filled out accurately.

Secondly, payment for the AP exams will be collected through the Total Registration website. There will be a nominal service processing fee for using a credit card. If you prefer to send a check, be mindful of the deadline noted on the Total Registration website. Students must access this online registration tool by logging onto: www.TotalRegistration.net/AP/333346. The cost for each AP exam is $103.00. Please note and adhere to the following deadlines:

 

Students must join their AP class at myap.collegeboard.org by September 30, 2025.

Payment for the exams must be submitted to the Total Registration website by November 5, 2025.

 

To avoid late fees please note, any exams paid for after the stated deadline above, will incur an additional fee of $40.00 per exam, as per the College Board policy. If a student cancels an exam due to an AP course being dropped after November 15th, there will be a $40 cancelation fee, as per College Board. Student Reminders for AP Exams

  • Please familiarize yourself with the updated AP Exam policies set forth by the College Board https://apstudents.collegeboard.org/.
  • If you receive accommodations for testing, you will be notified about your location through the Counseling Center, prior to your exams.
  • Students must report to morning exams no later than 7:45 am. For afternoon exams students must arrive no later than 11:45 am.
  • Please bring:
    • School given Chromebook, fully charged (with charger)
    • 2 black or dark blue pens
    • Approved calculator for designated exams (apstudents.org/calculators ) and backup batteries
    • A ruler or straight edge for Physics exams
    • A watch that does not have an alarm
    • School ID
  • Students taking exams will have an AP ID label for their exams. Please make sure you have your AP ID label listed on your phone, as a back-up.
  • All students must be prepared, and bring all required items needed for testing (pencils, pens, calculator with backup batteries, etc.).  All phones should be stored in their lockers prior to arriving at the testing location.
